Data model: platePlans-bossN
General description: A list of the plates suitable for
insertion into the master platePlans
file. This file should be passed to the Plate Designer so that they
can adjust it appropriately. Produced by "bosstile_plateinputs". That
routine also places definition and plateInput files into
$PLATELIST_DIR in appropriate places.

Required header keywords:

Required column names for PLATEPLANS named structure:
- plateid (int32): integer identification number for each
plate; each piece of metal we drill is meant to have a unique plateid
- designid (int32): design identification number that this
plate should use; multiple plates can be based on the same design, but
have aspects of the observing conditions that vary and require the
holes to be drilled differently
- locationid (int32): identification number for the
"location" of the plate and design; meant to signify that there is
some relationship between the plates that have the same
"locationid"
- tileid (int32): tile number for SDSS-I and -II; set to -1
for SDSS-III plates
- ha[6] (float32): hour angle that each pointing should be
drilled for (deg)
- temp (float32): temperature at the telescope to be drilled
for
- epoch (float32): epoch to assume when accounting for proper motions
- racen (float64): right ascension of plate center, in J2000 deg
- deccen (float64): declination of plate center, in J2000 deg
- survey (string): what survey is this plate associated
with? (e.g. "marvels_pre", "marvels", "segue2")
- programname (string): what program within that survey?
- drilltype (string): what instrument is this plate meant to
be drilled for? (e.g. "sdss", "marvels")
- rerun (string): rerun(s) to use when accessing SDSS data
through sdss_readobj (can be multiple separated by spaces)
- platerun (string): name of drilling run this plate is
associated with
- chunk (string): targeting chunk number (usually the same
as platerun for SEGUE-2 and MARVELS; set independently for SDSS-I,
-II, and BOSS)
- name (string): a name for the plate (for convenience, if
desired)
- comments (string): any comments on the plate
