Data model: portsmouth_stellarmass
General description: This file contains the plate merged output of the Portsmouth Spectro-Photometric Stellar Mass computation of the BOSS galaxy product, according to the
algorithm documentation.
Configurations:
The Portsmouth Stellar Mass Computation is calculated for two templates based on Maraston et al. (2005) and Maraston et al. (2009) models, each for two Initial Mass Functions. No reddening is used for the best-fitting.
| (configname) | SP Model | IMF |
| passive_krou | Passive | Kroupa |
| passive_salp | Passive | Salpeter |
| starforming_krou | Star Forming | Kroupa |
| starforming_salp | Star Forming | Salpeter |
Passive SP Model:
The passive model is the best-fit LRG model of Maraston et al. (2009), which is composed of:
- 97% by mass of a solar metallicity simple stellar population (SSP) plus 3% by mass of a metal-poor SSP, both coeval
- The minimum age is set to be 3 Gyr.
Star Forming SP Model:
As in Maraston et al. (2006), a best-fit template is simultaneously selected from 1 of 4 metallicities, with Z='0.004', '0.01', '0.02', or '0.04' [where Zsun=0.02], and 1 of the following stellar formation histories (SFH):
- exponentially declining SFH (τ-models) for values of τ=0.1, 0.3 or 1 Gyr
- truncated SFH: meaning constant star formation up to time τ=0.1, 0.3 and 1 Gyr and no star formation afterward
- constant SFH
