Data model: window_unified

General description: This file contains the list of polygons determining the primary area of the SDSS-III window function. The format corresponds to the mangle definitions of spherical polygons. For each polygon, this file reports the row in the window_flist.fits file corresponding to the primary field covering it.

Required column names:

• xcaps[3,N] (float64): direction on unit sphere of each cap (see mangle documentation referred to above)
• cmcaps[N] (float64): size of each cap (see mangle documentation referred to above)
• ifield (int32): field index (position in the window_flist.fits file) for the field we chose as "primary" within this balkan
• ncaps (int32): number of caps
• weight (float32): weight assigned to each polygon (unity always in this file)
• pixel (int32): pixel this polygon is in
• str (float64): solid angle of this polygon (steradians)
• use_caps (int32): bitmask indicating which caps are actually to be used

For IDL users, the idlutils utility "read_fits_polygons" can be used to read in this file into a format that the other idlutils mangle utilities (e.g. plot_poly or is_in_window) can read. It can be output as a standard ASCII mangle file with "read_mangle_polygons".
